Project of Complete Works of Rosa Luxemburg in English (Verso Books)

There are three projects regarding the publication of the Complete Works of Rosa Luxemburg in French (collectif Smolny and Agone), in Spanish (Espacio Rosa Luxemburg's forum) and also in English (Verso Books).

As for the latter, the first volume is already out : The Letters of Rosa Luxemburg.

Letters from the heroic German revolutionary to her comrades, friends and lovers.

This is the most comprehensive collection of letters by Rosa Luxemburg ever published in English, including 190 letters written to leading figures in the European and international labor and socialist movements—Leo Jogiches, Karl Kautsky, Clara Zetkin and Karl Liebknecht—who were her closest friends, lovers and colleagues. Many of these letters appear for the first time in English translation; all help to illuminate the inner life of this iconic revolutionary, who was at once an economic and social theorist, a political activist and a lyrical stylist. Her political concerns are revealed alongside her personal struggles within a socialist movement that was often hostile to independently minded women. This collection will provide readers with a newer and deeper appreciation of Luxemburg as a writer and historical figure.

Rosa Luxemburg (1871-1919) is widely regarded as one of the most creative writers of modern socialism and the foremost female theoretician of European radicalism. Her wide-ranging and incisive works, which include studies on capitalism's inherent drive for global expansion, the relation between spontaneity and organization, and the inseparability of democracy and socialism, have made her a pole of attraction for theorists and activists around the world. Her fiercely independent intellect and uncompromising defense of human liberty speaks more powerfully to our era than to any other.

The Complete Works of Rosa Luxemburg will make her entire body of work available for the first time. It will contain all of her books, pamphlets, essays, articles, letters and manuscripts, many of which have never before appeared in English. It will also include writings of hers that have only recently been discovered. All of her previously published work in English will be newly translated from German, Polish, Russian, and Yiddish originals. The Complete Works of Rosa Luxemburg will be published in fourteen volumes, each with comprehensive annotations and introductions.

The Complete Works of Rosa Luxemburg will bring the contributions of this remarkable thinker and personality alive for new generations. The project will be inaugurated in March 2011 with the publication of The Letters of Rosa Luxemburg.

ERL - Un nuevo ESPACIO en la web para la obra, la vida y la lucha de ROSA LUXEMBURG


Los abajo firmantes estamos preparando un sitio en la web dedicado a la obra, la vida y la lucha de la gran revolucionaria marxista. Se trata del ESPACIO ROSA LUXEMBURG.

Este nuevo sitio —que esperamos haga su aparición pública, aunque sea en forma incipiente, en los primeros meses de este 2011— nace a impulsos de la importante iniciativa que significó el sitio que Klaudio Kabral (como “Lain-Diez”) venía publicando desde el 3 de marzo de 2009 con el nombre: "Biblioteca Digital Rosa Luxemburgo" (actualmente el mismo ha cambiado su nombre a: "Espacio Rosa Luxemburgo - Biblioteca Digital".)

A las dificultades específicas de sostener una actividad recopilatoria y digital en la web, se suman las dificultades referidas a la multiplicidad de lenguas y versiones (algunas de muy mala calidad, muchas muy disímiles en variados aspectos) en que pueden encontrarse, más o menos reunidos/dispersos, los escritos y documentos de- y sobre- Rosa Luxemburg.

Todo lo referido a la corrección y justeza de dichas versiones, a los datos contextuales de cada obra, entre tantos otros problemas que hacen a la posibilidad de una buena lectura, es lo que tratamos de encarar, en forma grupal, con este nuevo sitio.

Quienes hacemos el ERL no nos consideramos especialistas ni expertos en la obra de Rosa Luxemburg, sino apenas sus lectores y simpatizantes. En el aspecto teórico y político referido al pensamiento y acción de Rosa, nos consideramos "en formación". Estaremos dispuestos a ir siempre más allá de nuestros límites individuales: nos interesa el trabajo colectivo y la más amplia difusión del espacio que proyectamos.

Estaremos especialmente atentos al interés que sepa originar este sitio en compañer*s de todo el mundo, con el propósito de hacer del ERL una herramienta, sobre todo, para la permanencia política revolucionaria de la vida, lucha y obra de Rosa Luxemburg.

Si, es verdad Alberto, gracias por la aclaración.

Te iba a mandar esta información por email y preguntarles si querían que tengamos un hilo especifico sobre el proyecto en español o si le cambio el nombre a este hilo para tener un hilo único.

No, está bien así, cualquier comentario referido a las Obras de Rosa en varios idiomas podría seguirse en este hilo (que, sí, podría llamarse por ejemplo "Proyectos de obras completas de Rosa Luxemburg - varios idiomas", o algún otro por el estilo).
Aclaremos que en principio el ERL será recopilatorio y contaremos con lo que ya está traducido --que es bastante--, además de ir haciendo traducciones propias.
Pero sin duda habrá que ver con qué ritmo podremos avanzar. La colaboración siempre es imprescindible.
