Criminals should be exposed and expelled from the community
Iraq Freedom Congress statement on the death threat issued on the president of the Union of Teachers in Basra
As part of a hellish plan by the sectarian forces to liquidate all freedom lovers and secularists who stand against the agenda of Shiite political Islam, Falah Hassan Ismail , coordinator of the Ministry of Education, has requested to kill Ibrahim Al- Battat, head of the Union of Teachers in Basra, to control the union's elections and appoint the union’s board affiliates.
The Ministry of Education has not only sought to produce an intellectually and socially deformed generation through imposition of a sectarian education and curriculum. It has put the future of the society on the verge of a sectarian war, and also attempted to take control of the unions to pass and secure their sectarian agenda once and for all.
These killers and criminals issue death orders without any fear against anyone who opposes their actions or disagrees with their views. Mr. Ibrahim al-Battat, president of the Union of Teachers in Basra, is known as a secular figure who stood against the sectarian gangs and worked to organize fair elections in the teacher’s union in Basra. He is being threatened in broad daylight.
It is the sectarian quota system – fruit of the ‘New Iraq’ -- that brought these murderers into high ranking positions within the government. The (State of Law) an expression that was ushered in by Mr. Nouri al-Maliki and named his electoral list after it, is the state of Falah Hassan Ismail and his ilk. It is a clear picture of the kind of government al-Maliki wants to bring to Iraq.
Iraq Freedom Congress strongly condemns the threats of the Ministry of Education coordinator; it also demands him to be publicly tried in the court of justice as deterrence to those killers and criminals.
Please send telegrams and letters to the Iraqi embassy and the Presidency of Iraq. Falah Hassan Ismail and his fellow killers and criminals belong in prison.
