strikes in britain Empty strikes in britain

Post  lost Tue Jul 05, 2011 3:45 pm

between 750,000-800,000 workers in britain struck across britain on 30th june, with members fom the main teaching and civil service unions involved.workers in many towns and cities too part-many of which seem to have had little union history or sinificance before.over 100,000 trades unionists took part in marches and rallies.many workers were eager for wider trade union involvement and mor generalised action actively seeking answers to bring down government and ensure that our class do not bear the burden of their classess crisis.workers with no previous knowledge of or engagement in trade unions in action took part.

even union leadersgips are now propelled by the level of involvement and the bature of the crisis to cosider wider action but it is only pressure and co-ordination from and led by the rank and file membership that will turn any of this into reality.

a general strike is now in the air.the key questions are to name a day.to plan not just for it but for all to come out and stay out.students can occupy colleges and in co-ination with workers and communities make their occupations organising and learning centres for that mass strike.

workers are not short of ideas, enthusiasm and creativity.revolutionary organisations can play a key part in linking up each and every focus and point of struggle, and play a key part in being a lightning condctor for each idea and tactic that can widen and deepen the struggle.this is a rare opportunity.there is lots to do.

    i will keep comrades posted
