there is a childrens song here that seems to have particular resonances today.
its based on a start along the lines of "the wheels on the bus,go round and round, round and round"
it seems to me we could make it apply(as a sign of broken-ness with"the wheels on the(government)bus, have fallen off."
and for those teachers anxious about the impact of the strike on the children in their care, perhaps our education of those children should include teaching values where we colectively act to take care of one another, with the principle of a decent pension, amongst other things, and our willingness to defend what is important-not just taking our individual chances in a system that only sees us and our pensions as commodities to be exploited, traded sold.
perhaps the children might go on the bus to the rally,in which case the rafrain might become"the teachers on the bus,say strike!strike!strike!"
i yearn for the day when all workers basic rights and security will not require us to strike and that the values we teach our children match the social reality-that they and we are safe in every sense of the word
