given the british con-dem plans to eradicate mayday,i don't doubt the next target will be international womens day.
i might only be male but all i can say is i look forward to the time as soon as possible when we(our class)can put their class and every symbol of it,on the rubbish pile of history where they belong!
meantime i will be celebrating and remembering all the women i know and those who don't who struggle, who raise us who lead, exemplify and shine.for all those who have fallen and those who have been forgotten.
in the here and now it is wonderful to see the brothers and sisters making their voices and opinions heard in rebuilding better societies especially in north africa-men and women standing together, equal.
i dont believe in or have heroes but i do have what i would call exemplars.among them i would name boudicca who led the struggle against roman domination of the island of albion many centuries ago..mary shelley and mary wollstonecraft, mary seacole, sojourner truth, angela davis, rigoberta menchu, alexandra kollontai(after whom i named my eldest daughter),sylvia pankhurst(suffragete, founder of workers dreadnbought, supporter of the workers and left opposition),emma goldman and not least rosa luxemburg.
i willremeber those who have struggled and died in woens and workers cause, but they and all the unnamed also give us strioong caquse to celebrate.i hope i can strengthen my own ansd others resolve to bring as speedy and successful end to such struggle so that we might go on to build on the foundations of the better world we have to win!
