today the ipcc/independent police complaints commission, itself with a questionable reputation, decided to support in part, the complaint by jody macintyre about his arrest.he is a leading activist who has been active in student campaigns and with disabled people amongst others.he himself has cerebral palsy and often has to use a wheelchair.when detained"for his own safety"and in being dragged across the street probably by his collar was also struck by a police truncheon.he was subsequently charged and evidence included descriptions of him hurling himself from his wheelchair undoubtedly"in an aqgressive manner"to assault police officers.the ipcc found that whilst protecting mr macintyre was reasonable assaulting him was nnot.never mind that in protesting he may not have wanted or needed protection, and he wqas certainly never asked.i dont think a persons interests or will can be taken for granted and if its difficult for anyone to ascertain anothers wishes in such circumstances, then im afraid i just think that reality and its tough!
apparently the truncheon with which he was struck-was accidental and magically no-one was attached to the handle!the victim could have considered pressing assault charges against police, except the ipcc decision was made outside the 6 month period in which charges would have been possible.mr macintyre has himself pointed out the paradox of the swift justice against rioters, alongside his exclusion from justice.
yes, this is justice of a kind in britain-class justice.pigs justice!
this is another occassion which makes me ashamed to work in the criminal justice system or to have any association with it.
